Day on the Island

Local

COME OUT FOR THE WORLD FAMOUS Day on the Island!  This event only happens every other year so don't miss out!!!  On behalf of the Isle of Hope United Methodist Church, I would like to personally thank everyone who volunteered and bought tickets for DOI! If you've missed the email from our good friend Yancey Bradley & Susanne Conley, please read on below and see what a great opportunity this is to help missions work!

Many, many thanks to those of you that have volunteered and bought tickets for DOI! It is going to be a fabulous day for our Isle of Hope church family. If you don’t have your tickets or want to share your time and talents with the various DOI committees, there is still time! Tickets are on sale through Sunday, October 7th in the church office, at Village Walk Pharmacy or online https://www.eventbrite.com/e/day-on-the-island-2018-tickets-48207641353. We will also be selling tickets in between church services this Sunday for any last minute ticket purchases.

We, of course, are so grateful to this year’s homeowners for opening their homes for Day on the Island. Included in this year’s tour of homes is rare access to the grounds of Wormsloe, including the gardens, Library and new site for the UGA Center for Research and Education. Craig and Diana Barrow are the ninth ancestral generation to live at Wormsloe. The picturesque river views from the Jaakkola Family’s Camelia Cottage along Bluff Drive and the Fuqua home overlooking the Vernon River are breathtaking examples of Savannah coastal living. And finally, a stop at the McCormick home along LaRoche Avenue will take you on a tour of the world as this globally inspired home meets modern day comfort and function.
You do not want to miss these beautiful homes, delicious food, shopping and auction bidding, and most of all fellowship. Please read through this email and see if there are any needs that you can help fill.

In gratitude,
Yancey Bradley & Susanne Conley

Parking

Do you like to wear orange and give directions? Then sign up to help with transportation for Day on the Island October 12th. Helping visitors safely park and get to and from the tour houses and the church is an important part of our hospitality for the day. If you can work from 9:00am to 12pm or 12pm to 3pm, please contact Phyllis Curlee at phylliscurlee@gmail.com. If you want to eat our delicious chicken salad at lunch time, please purchase a Day on the Island ticket. Thank you!
House Docents

Day on the Island still needs a few more house docents. House docents help direct tour traffic through the homes and gardens and serve as a friendly, helpful liaison to the church. No experience necessary! All shifts available. Day on the Island is Friday, October 12th and shifts are available 9:15am- 11:30am, 11:15am - 1:30pm, and 1:15pm - 3:00pm. Please contact Cindy Edwards (montchat@aol.com * 912-429-6999) to learn more and volunteer.

If you are making a cake, please put it on a disposable cake board. Send all cookies, brownies, etc. in Ziploc bags or other disposable containers. We will package your items to sell. Let us know what you would like to bring atchristymcp@yahoo.com or (901)581-2154 and we will send you a reminder email or call you the week prior to the event.
